So I went to see Insurgent today, and for those of you who do not know what it is: Insurgent is the sequel to Divergent which is based off of a post apokoliptic time where America was at war and died down to a very small amount of people living in what is left of Chicago. Kinda like Hunger Games, but instead of 13 districts like those series, Divergent divides people into 5 different groups called 'Factions.' Dauntless, Amity, Erudite, Abnegation, and Candor. Those that do not make it in these factions are cast out and considered 'Factionless' because they do not belong anywhere. There is however a group of people who fit into all Factions and they are called 'Divergent' hence the title. This is where the main character Beatrice or Tris later on, comes into place because she has to try and figure out where she belongs after finding out that she is, ready for it, Divergent.
Insurgent takes place after the first book/movie and I won't try to go into much detail and I will try to warn you if there are any spoilers.
Tris is a strong hearted character that many people can get behind and respect. You see how much she struggles from the events that took place prior. In a way you feel you can relate to Tris with all that had happened and makes you wonder, could you do all that happened to her if you were in that position?
Also we get to look deeper into some of the Factions and see what each group is like. It was like they were asking the people in the theater 'Where would you see yourself?' At least that's what I got.
The ending was really surprising to me because you could tell that there was something going to happen and when it does, it's so sudden and it ends. It makes you want to go see the next movie whenever it comes out.
There was really only one scene that ruined what was an intense moment. The main character has to make a decision and another character that she is in love with tells her not to do anything stupid. Well as they continue, they decide to kiss and soon clothes start coming off. You only see their backs, but still it seriously ruined the moment. Also one person came close to or did say F*** and considering that it's a PG-13 and a book series that has become very popular with young readers, there's no point in that at all.
All in all it was a really good movie. Not as good as the first one, but I like where they are going with it and I seriously hope that they tone down on the sex....seriously people, if you want to see sex, go on a porn site. Leave it out of the movies. Please? Thank you.
